Upgrading to the MSI MPG 491CQP has completely transformed my gaming and productivity setup. The QD-OLED panel is simply breathtaking. The colors are incredibly vibrant and pop off the screen, and the black levels are truly infinite, creating a level of contrast and depth that’s just jaw-dropping. The 49-inch super ultrawide display wraps around your field of view, making games feel incredibly immersive. For work, the screen real estate is a game-changer. Gameplay is exceptionally smooth and responsive, thanks to the high refresh rate and near-instantaneous response time. It’s a serious investment, but if you’re looking for the absolute best in class for an immersive gaming and media experience, this monitor is it. An easy five stars.

Panel Protect was designed by sadistic engineers intent on ruining your life
I loved this monitor. And then I hated it. It’s beautiful, colors and contrast are amazing, the size is amazing, the fact that the same display port/cable can be used for display and charging, awesome. The multiple monitor/split setup, really cool.And then came “Panel Protect.” A feature that forcibly runs maintenance on your monitor, without any ability to postpone, right in the middle of you using it – for roughly 10 minutes, during which time you can’t use the monitor. In the middle of an intense game? Too bad. Important meeting? Sucks to be you. With the number of meetings I’ve been in where the monitor shuts down at the most inopportune time, I’d send this thing back in a heartbeat if still in the return period.I get it. OLED needs maintenance. MSI is trying to help you protect your monitor. But their implementation of this feature is atrocious. Believe me, I’ve tried every possible setting on this to get it to do it when I’m NOT using the monitor. Run your stupid Panel Protect every single day at 2am for all I care, I’ll leave it on for you! Or let me postpone it at least for a few hours when I can run it when it’s convenient. Nope. You get “Auto” or “Every 16 hours.” And as much as it seems like “Auto” would be intelligent enough to say, “Looks like the user has stepped away for a bit, the monitor’s gone into standby mode, maybe now I’ll run my 10 minute panel protect process” it doesn’t do that. It seems that “auto” means, I’ll detect when you are actively using this and shove the panel protect warning in your face for 10 seconds then start my 10 minute maintenance process. The other issue I keep seeing that the “auto” setting resets back to “Every 16 hours” at random. And every 16 hours is just that. Doesn’t matter what you are doing. At 16 hours since last run, it’s going to run. It’s a nightmare. I can’t remember the last time I’ve had as much loathing for a piece of technology.I see the positive reviews here and assume there’s just something I’m missing. And I’ve scoured the Internet for solutions but have only found angry people like me ranting about this monitor, with proposed solutions from the community that don’t seem to work. After having this go into its maintenance schedule for the umpteenth time during an important meeting, I’m done with this thing. The problem is, I can’t in good conscience even sell this to someone. I would hate to inflict that punishment on a fellow human being.

Not for everyone
If you want / need this very particular format size / ratio (32:9), go for it! it’s absolutely the best “gaming” monitor that you can dream of. Not all games support this aspect ratio. It is not “comfortable” in all the situation. 21:9 34″ or 39″ is definitely more versatile for most games and gamers. But if you are sure that 32:9 is your jam this is the best present that you can buy for yourself.

Great image quality!
I honestly had many doubts about buying this monitor. I had always dreamed of having one like this, although I hadn’t considered that I would need to get used to the image format. It wasn’t difficult at all, and the image quality is definitely excellent. The product arrived in perfect condition. The only thing I don’t like is that it comes with very short cables, which makes it a bit difficult to set up since it’s so big. Other than that, I think it’s a great purchase.

This was my first experience with OLED, and I LOVE IT, I can’t go back.I was unsure to switch to OLED because people mentioned how reading font on OLED could look blurry / have artifacting but honestly I find it just as crisp as my old monitor!I was also not going to swtich to OLED in case of burn in, however there are many options that MSI added to help prevent burn in, and they’re automatically enabled on the monitor out of the box. I will be cautious and hide my shortcuts and taskbar etc. anyways. But with these out of the way, I decided to try this monitor and I am so glad I did.Great colour quality! Really vivid colours! Deep blacks! Software is easy to use. The picture brightness for blacks isn’t bad at all, I just wish one of the settings in the monitor menu bumped up the shadows just a little bit more for my liking. But that was easy enough in the Nvidia settings for now for gaming. I was able to get amazing picture quality, and have it just the way I like it, and still maintain really nice colour and vibrancy. Didn’t really have to adjust it but the slight bit that I did adjust, *chefs kiss*I have nothing bad to say about this monitor! I would recommend it to anyone looking for quality picture and ultrawide size, and great price. Also after having a 49″ monitor it’s hard to go back to only using anything smaller 🙂

Went from a first-gen QD-OLED monitor to this one. Colors and brightness are fantastic. 240hz is noticeable improvement vs 144/165hz. 3 year warranty, covering burn-in as well! Add Microsoft Powertoys and productivity is a blast too.Highly recommended.
