Great for Outdoor Movie Nights
Got this primarily to have backyard movie nights with the family, and for holidays and major sporting events like Super Bowl, so I can watch games outdoors while I’m barbecuing. I am happy with this purchase, which I got for a pretty good deal during Prime Day. Watched Jurassic World and the picture quality was very good, images and video were crisp and clear. I appreciated the auto focus feature whenever it detected movement. Setup was very easy and straightforward- the only part that took awhile was the Google TV OS had to download and install system updates out of the box, but once installed the software ran smooth with no issues. It is also able to download all the apps I needed for family movie nights, including YouTube TV for live sports. I do wish, however, that the Google interface didn’t bury manual focus and keystone so deep in the settings, but once you get the hang of it it’s okay., just wish they will change that in a future update. The audio is very good, speakers are clear and fairly loud – I could hear dialogue even over the sound of the fan powering my inflatable projector screen outdoors. I still plan to get an external speaker to get more bass, though. It has Bluetooth and 3.5mm aux output for audio, and also has 1 HDMI in case you prefer to skip Google TV and use a Fire Stick, or even a gaming console. While there are other brands on Amazon I’ve never heard of selling projectors, I was satisfied with TCL for the Roku TV and thought I’d give it shot. Overall I’d recommend this projector if it’s in your budget.
