Perfect STEM Gift: Fun and Educational Mega Cyborg Hand Kit!
I bought the Thames & Kosmos Mega Cyborg Hand STEM Experiment Kit as a Christmas gift for my 9-year-old son, and it was a huge hit! From the moment he opened it, he was excited to dive into the building process.The instructions were clear and easy for him to follow, and he managed to assemble it mostly on his own, with just a little guidance. Watching him figure out how each piece fit together and seeing his pride in completing it was priceless. The kit provides a fantastic hands-on learning experience, teaching mechanical concepts and the basics of hydraulics in a fun and engaging way.Once assembled, the cyborg hand is incredibly cool. Good product, most kids will need some help in assembling it. But it works if you get to the end!
Bought this twice – once as a gift for another kid and then again for my son’s birthday. It is pretty cool and functional – not really easy to put together. My mechanically-inclined ten-year old was able to figure out most of it on his own, though some sections were a little confusing and it does take a bit of dexterity to get some of the pieces figured out. Instructions are mostly straightforward, but you do really need to ensure you read them correctly (mostly diagrams and numbers, not words). Overall a worthwhile gift – but plan on providing some not insignificant adult supervision to help build it. BTW beware not to accidentally throw away the hydraulic oil! It looks like a dessicant pack, but it is not, and you need it! Finally hand is capable of picking up things like cups of water, etc.

Best for 15-16 year olds-5 stars for end product. 4 stars for being a challenge to assemble.
After reading the reviews on difficulty level I decided to get this for my 16 year old. He is very good with putting things together and this took him about 6 hours to assemble over a few days. He (gently) used a power drill because the screws were too difficult to do manually. It is a great gift for an older kid that likes to build but would not recommend it for the ages listed in the description. He enjoyed it, it was challenging enough without being overly frustrating and not so easy that he was done with it in no time. It is a very cool hand and works really well!

Cool Concept, Needs Improvement
The Mega Cyborg Hand kit is a fun and educational STEM project that my child really enjoyed building. The hydraulic system is a great way to introduce kids to basic engineering and mechanics, and the instructions were fairly clear. However, some parts were a bit flimsy and didn’t fit together as well as expected, which caused a bit of frustration during assembly. Also, the hand is quite large and not very comfortable to wear for extended periods, even with the adjustable straps. Overall, it’s a decent kit for older kids who are patient and enjoy building things, but it could use some improvements in design and durability.

While the parts in the box is all complete, the box is dented and the seal is broken. Meant to be a gift for a little boy. Lesson learnt to buy toys from physical stores in the future

The product looks amazing with very very detailed instruction inside. However, the box was delivered without wrapping, no Amazon bag, no Amazon box. The box is damaged and does not look like a new one. The shipment sticker was put directly on the box with the product. This is a gift and it took me a while to remove the sticker. Consider another seller of this product.

Me parece un excelente producto. Dudé para comprarlo al leer algunos comentarios negativos, pero, ahora pienso que no es exacto lo que comentan. Por eso mi interés en compartir nuestra experiencia, a mi hijo le encantó de regalo de cumpleaños, a sus 11 años, prácticamente él y su hermano lo armaron solos. Sí, le compré unas tijeras como las recomendadas y una pequeña lija que fueron muy útiles; el desarmador de cruz ya lo teníamos en casa. Yo busqué un tutorial en YouTube, sin embargo, mi hijo prefirió seguir el instructivo impreso incluido, ambos fueron de mucha utilidad. El material es plástico de muy buena calidad, tiene excelentes acabados, todo está perfectamente marcado para no equivocar las piezas. Les tomó más de 4 horas ensamblarlo, los mantuvo interesados y activos. Fue muy intuitivo su uso y muy fácil de entenderlo. 100% recomendado.
