Great camera for the money.
I got this camera to look into the downstairs of my house from upstairs or when I was away from the house. I installed it where I thought I would have the best view of the most rooms from one spot and wow was I impressed. It picks up my entire kitchen, my breakfast area and my family room and even part of my dining room from one well placed location. The video is actually pretty high-quality considering the wide angle fixed lens. The night time or dark room quality is OK, but noticeably limited in field of view as the illumination is very weak. My only wish would be for a longer power cord to allow for more mounting options. The full trial service includes recorded video and other nice features that you will have to sign up for and pay for to continue to use. The camera still works after the trial period and you can still look in from your phone from the app from anywhere, you just won’t have recorded video. Setup was easy and the mounting hardware was included.

Surprisingly Powerful Little Security Cam! Super Clear & Reliable
The Blink Mini 2 really impressed me for such a compact indoor camera. The HD video quality is sharp, and the new color night view is a huge upgrade—it actually lets you see details in low light instead of a washed-out grayscale.Motion detection is quick and accurate, and I love that it doesn’t constantly spam false alerts. The built-in spotlight is a nice touch too, especially if you want a little extra visibility at night without turning on a full room light. The two-way audio is clear on both ends, making it perfect for checking in on pets, talking to kids, or just monitoring what’s going on in the house. Setup was super easy—plug it in, connect to the app, done. For the size and price, this camera delivers way more than expected. Whether you want a reliable home security boost or just a way to keep an eye on your pets, the Blink Mini 2 is a great choice.

Fantastic Cameras and System
The Blink system is an excellent system. It works. The cameras are high quality and very reliable. We have been using Blink for several years. Wired minis, wired outdoor, and soon to add battery powered outdoor. Very easy to add new cameras to your existing network and system super-simple steps. Reset the camera via a button then let the app find the camera. Find your network and connect. That’s about it. Cameras get 5 stars. The phone app gets 4.5 stars. The Blink programmers missed a usability issue – when you already have Blink on a WiFi network and you want to change WiFi networks it ain’t all that easy. Once a camera is on a network the only way to change networks is to delete the camera. There is no ability to go into app and choose which network you want after a camera is already on a network. No ldrop down list of networks to choose from like on your phone or computer. The drop down is there when adding a camera but not if camera already in use. Makes it harder if you move and you have a lot of cameras to set up.

A modest and budget friendly plug-in security camera.
A modest and budget friendly plug-in security camera. Perfect for keeping an eye or checking up on pets and kids.Pros:The camera itself captures video in full HD (1080p) up to 30 fps (frames per second), which is quite reasonable. You can lower the resolution and fps if you do not have high speed internet. The field of view is excellent, a 143 diagonal and 115 horizontal. You can cover an entire room or broad area without needing extra camera’s.Night vision works well, it uses an LED spotlight for color night vision in addition to IR (infrared), which is excellent for capturing footage in dark or dim-lit areas. The Mini 2 supports “person detection”, which can help reduce false alerts, so you’re less likely to get notifications from shadows, branches, etc. A nice upgrade over very basic motion-only cameras. You can define activity / privacy zones, and limit which parts of the camera’s view will trigger alerts (or be blocked from view). Also helpful if you don’t want constant alerts from a busy street or passer-by’s outside a window. Now, as for the intergration with smart home devices:If you use Amazon Alexa, the Mini 2 integrates pretty smoothly, you can use voice commands, view live feed on an Alexa device, etc.Including any compatible devices, along with the Blink app you can make use of two-way audio, you can hear what’s going on and speak back (Helpful for calming anxious pets who might need to hear your voice!)Now for the drawbacks..Advanced features like cloud storage of clips, person detection alerts and continious live-view recording require a subscription, e.g. Blink Basic. If you want to store video locally which requires no subscription, you need to purchase a separate device called the “Sync Module 2” and a USB flash drive. For outdoor use, you will likely need to buy the optional weather resistant power adapter, which can all add to cost and shifts it away from just ‘plug and go’.While the video and audio quality is acceptable, it is not premium. 1080p is quite modest by today’s standard. It is not enough to, for example, clearly zoom in on a license plate or small detail far from the camera.Audio performance is mediocre, sometimes even light white noise or general sounds can just be picked up as static. There is no remote movement, no ability to pan and no physical privacy shutter. So you have to choose a ‘static’ view, and if you want to re-angle coverage, you will need to manually adjust it.The IR camera when it’s in use makes a loud ‘click’ noise. Not ideal if you want a hidden camera, you can turn off the IR camera, but then you will not see much in the dark, I recommend a small lamp or night light in the area you want to cover.Motion detection can sometimes be inconsistent, or trigger on irrelevant things. Not too often, but it can be bothersome. There is also the LED spotlight, which again, if you want a hidden camera, you will have to tape over it.Conclusion:The Blink Mini 2 is great for someone on a budget and want a simple ‘set and forget’ indoor camera, whether to monitor a living room, children’s room, small office or pets. It’s good for those who want live-view, occasional motion alerts or to check on pets/children. Not high detail security for break-in’s.I would not recommend it to those needing security-grade footage, or those who dislike ongoing subscription costs as many useful functions require it.My verdict: Good basic camera, but know it’s limits. The Mini 2 strikes a strong balance for what it aims to be: A budget friendly, simple, plug-in ‘keep an eye on this spot’ camera, rather than a professional-grade security system. It’s wide field of fiew, color night vision, and simple two-way audio make it a solid pick for everyday home monitors, especially for pets, kids or casual indoor surveillance. However you should go in with realistic expectations. If you expect a razor-sharp video capable of identifying distant faces or license plates, or want a camera you can trust for serious security scenarios, (e.g. front-porch package theft, home break ins). The Mini 2 will likely disappoint. The need for a subscription or extra hardware to unlock core features means the final cost will be higher than the box price suggests. In short: For the price, it’s a smart ‘starter cam’ or supplementary camera, but not a heavy duty security solution.Setup can be a little confusing if you are not at all acclimated to using technology and phone’s as this does make use of the Blink app.

What a wonderful stuff have Blink !
I first bought the Blink mini camera (April 9, 2023). It’s recommended for indoor use, but I use it outdoors in the shade during the summer heat of Las Vegas, NV (109 degrees Fahrenheit) and in the winter, and I’ve never had any problems. The camera is practically bulletproof. The image and sound quality are excellent, and the installation and app are easy and convenient. Of course, I’ve already bought another camera, the Blink mini 2, and the installation was practically automatic. I only had to enter my Wi-Fi password, and the camera was ready. It’s very easy to move them; you just unplug and plug them back in at the new location. I haven’t bothered about copying the recordings yet—I mean, saving the files to a USB drive—but with Blink, I imagine it must be super simple. So far, it’s one of the best products I’ve bought on Amazon. The Blink mini 2 works wonderfully.
