Love this lock
Install simpleSet up easy! This is a great smart lock and my 2nd one from Eufy. I moved my regular keypad to back door and purchased this one for the front. It allows you to out in both left and right palms, it also has the key pad and a door bell button which hides the key access. It has a dual battery the 1st is a rechargeable the 2nd is 4 double A’s that allow the key pad to be used if the main drains down. I love the app and that I can view the video of the back of the lock or on my phone. This is another great product from EUFY!

Excellent product and fast detection
This is a wonderful product. It has greatly simplified getting into the house. Installing it and connecting it to the eufy app and the home system was straightforward. Palm detection is fast and awesome. Haven’t had to recharge the battery yet, but I do like that there is a backup battery in place. Product is solidly built, the key hole cover does seem to be loose and it does seem to leave traces wear / oil when using the numbers to unlock, so just keep that in mind (wipe the numbers every so often if using them)

Impressive and great features
So far really impressed with all the options and features!Np installing to door (although had my handyman do it). NOTE: after putting it together it will have u press a button in the back wheee the battery is and if u already put the cover on np bc it’s super easy to take off.I did have to try connecting a couple of times. If you have issues with this part and it talks about router settings go to your Internet provider settings online or app and change signal to 2.4 only from dual band (2.4 and 5.0) temporarily and then u won’t have a problem.I’ll update more later

Updated Review
Updated Review:I initially had some issues with the palm reading feature of the S3 Max where certain members of my family had difficulty opening the door via the palm detection. Eufy customer support reached out to me and listened to my gripes about these issues. They showed some tips on how to get a more accurate reading. In my case, the lock is in direct sunlight and as such, infrared being emitted from the lock is disrupted by direct sunlight. Now everyone makes sure to shade the lock when using the palm recognition feature and it works. i just wanted to thank Eufy for listening to customers’ complaints and rectifying my situation.

Be warned – its awfully glitchy
*Update – back to one star! (Nov 4th). Brand new lock installed …. same exact problem as the last lock – bolt goes forward on an open door (this time at 3 minutes, the previous lock was 5 minutes). It seems they fixed the glitch where it would record while the door was open, even if you had the setting set to not record).*Updated from one star to three (Nov 1st)* After leaving a one star review, I was pleasantly surprised that Eufy Customer Service reached out with offers to remedy the situation. I received another lock to test out and hopefully it doesn’t have the same issues (once tested, I’ll change to 5 stars if it works like it’s supposed to!) Definitely impressed by the service I received so far.I own a lot of Eufy products (indoor and out cameras, smartlocks, etc) and I can confidently say that this thing is not ready for release yet. They have an auto lock feature which does not work properly. The problem I’ve run into is when you leave the door open. It automatically locks after about 5 minutes. So the bolt just comes open randomly. And so if someone slams the door not realizing that the bolt is open, you’re going to slam the bolt into the side of the door case. Other issues I’ve run into are the camera records motion non-stop, and it’s not supposed to if the door is unlocked and you leave the door open. But in my case, it’s still detecting motion and recording while the door’s open, which it’s not supposed to. I’ve had a tough time connecting to it to make any changes in the settings as well. I usually have to attempt two or three times which is frustrating because none of the other Eufy products have any problems connecting and I have a mesh network that works flawlessly in my house. I think this thing was released too soon. Some of the features do work such as the palm reader, etc. U’ve forwarded my complaints but basically have to do the research for them, they want videos sent, a complete write up of all the different issues and problems. Which kind of sounds like their job in my opinion … Pretty sure I’m sending it back, but I previously owned an August Home lock, which was equally frustrating if you have Android 🤷♂️

Quality control problems, but a great smart lock if you’re lucky enough to get one problem-free
When this lock is functional, it’s really nice. Unfortunately the first one we got from Amazon had a glitch, where it needed to be hard reset (rechargeable and non-rechargeable batteries removed from the unit) each time we wanted to add new palm prints. We engaged Eufy support, which fairly promptly got us a replacement unit. The replacement unit was absolutely terrible. The auto-lock feature wouldn’t work (even the emergency failsafe that is supposed to engage after 5 minutes), the battery would drain in 2 days, the unit would randomly go to sleep and we wouldn’t be able to use PINs or palm prints, and the thing would seemingly reboot randomly. Engaging with Eufy support on the terrible unit was much slower and a big waste of time. However, the third time was the charm, and when they finally did replace the unit everything was working as it should. Important to note though – on all three units, it took between 3-10 tries to get the unit to work with the Eufy Homebase 3. Thankfully that only needs to be done once. It might be an issue of quickly putting the back plate on after scanning the QR code, before the whole process times out.Edit: I’m raising my rating to 4 stars because the third unit has been great, has an excellent battery life, and reliably works as it’s supposed to. It was a little ridiculous that we got two defective units in a row, but Eufy’s customer support kept working with us and did eventually get us a nice working lock, so it’s nice that they stand behind the quality of their products.

It’s not perfect. The Palm reader can be slow at times, and it does not have open door detection. But I’m still going to give it 5 stars because it was simple to install, has a good battery life, and at its core works well. The pin takes seconds or we can unlock it as we pull up to the house from the app.

This is a great lock. Easy to install and set up. It seems to work very well. Recognizes our family palms and not others that I’ve tested with.I like the auto lock after a certain amount of time and you can define a time frame to do this so throughout the day you are not constantly unlocking the door.It only uses the key it came with. Would be nice if it can be rekeyed to match the other house doors. I have not tried to get spare keys made yet so not sure that is an option. The button that covers the key hole and emergency power plug keeps falling open. This is also the doorbell button so it tends to be used regularly and just does not fit tight after you open it. DON’T OPEN IT IF YOU DONT HAVE TO! LOL

So far I’m very impressed and it’s a very good product. The App was easy to setup . I had a bit of a problem with the key unlocking door but I think I got it sorted out.I haven’t set up the the palm entry yet, but soonI love the fact that it comes with a rechargeable battery and has a backup as well.I highly recommend this Lock.

Works really really well super easy to use I love you it’s better than the fingerprint

The lock itself seems rather decent but the installation is rather complicated and not universal at all due to only one faceplate (while many places will require the slim round circular faceplate). It’s a piece that might cost 50 cent which simply HAS to be included for a 500$ lock! But instead it says to contact eufy if you need one – I tried the chat or calling but no one seems to know anything about it. Now I cannot use the lock or have to do expensive modifications to my door in order to use it.Probably a great product with such a fatal flaw!!!
