I ordered this product expecting the 2023 version of the Google Nest Doorbell (Wired) as advertised.The listing stated that it’s the updated Nest Hello—rebranded but still a current-generation product—even cited a 2023 model year.However, what I received was a Nest Hello manufactured in 2018, based on the QR code and product markings on the unit. It’s literally a five-year-old device. While it still functions and technically meets most of the advertised capabilities, there are several critical issues buyers should know:⸻🚩 Key Differences:• ✅ ADVERTISED: “Model Year: 2023”❌ ACTUAL: Device was made in early 2018, based on the internal date code.• ✅ ADVERTISED: “Same great product inside”❌ REALITY: This is a first-generation Nest Hello, not an updated unit. It has older hardware, and there’s no indication it has been refreshed, upgraded, or refurbished with newer components. (They have a battery inside that consumers aren’t supposed replace, once it dies, you have to replace the entire camera!)• ✅ ADVERTISED: “Renewed”❌ REALITY: While it powers on, there were visible signs of wear and no clear indication of refurbishment quality control. No documentation or refurb cert included.• ✅ ADVERTISED: “Compatible with Nest app”❌ REALITY: True, but not compatible with the Google Home app, which means limited future support as Google phases out the Nest app.⸻🎯 Final Verdict:This is not a 2023 product—it’s a 2018 legacy unit being sold as if it were current. If you’re okay with that and still use the Nest app, it may work for you. But if you’re expecting newer hardware or modern app integration with Google Home, you’ll be disappointed.🔌 Check the QR code before installing—you’re likely getting an older device repackaged as “renewed.”
