This is probably one of the coolest gadgets I have ever purchased. I was traveling in Japan and had to make an emergency room visit after suffering heat stroke. The Dr and nurse used this and I was so impressed I went out and purchased one myself. It does voice/speach translations for 89 languages as well has has a camera to translate signage as well as a currency converter. I was using google translate on my phone and thought that was useful but after using this I will never use a smart phone to translate again.

It’s not HIPAA compliant. I can see translation transcripts on the device with PII and PHI in plain sight. It also takes too long to translate.

PRODUCTPOCKETALK S2 Plus Business eSIM 5 YearREVIEWThe pocket talk is a dedicated translation device that is easy to use for most any language. It does have to be able to connect to the internet to work, so you either need to use the included FREE 5 year SIM for data or WiFi if available. So in remote locations it might not be best for you as there is no offline mode that I could find.It is very easy to use and required no training.REAL LIFE EXAMPLEI had this device with me in a recent trip to Japan where I required urgent medical care. Our tour guide only had basic English skills but was having problems conveying my medical needs to the Ambulance Team in Japan. Once I started using the device they understood me completely, and I was able to understand them. It was even more important once I got to the hospital and there was nobody with any English and I was on my own. The ER team was able to ask me questions and get my answers all through the device. Without this device, I don’t think we could have completed the procedure I needed. It might be a stretch to say it saved my life, but who knows what additional delays may have done to my overall health.I will not travel out of the county without this device.RECOMMENDATIONA must have for international travel, not only for travel basics, but emergency situations.
