Be sure to turn off the breaker during installation.
Yesterday, my wife and I installed this unit. The installation videos I viewed on YouTube and Ring took about 5 or 7 minuites to remove an outside lamp and install this unit. As for me and my wife it took us 90-minutes to install. So, you may want to allow 5 to 90-minutes for installation. I had to use a power drill to disassemble the old outside light and install this new Ring floodlight. So, don’t depend entirely on the little screwdriver that is included in the kit. The biggest assembly delay was the final step of doing the final assembly. The two screws that fit into to main unit were difficult to put through the two holes and secure with the white nuts. I had to jiggle and wiggle the main unit for about 20-minutes or more to successfully push the unit down over the two screws and attach the nuts. Once it was finally assembled, and I had apologized to my wife for my making some unfortunate comments to her during this tedious process, the Ring worked as advertised. This unit also turns the lights on with a motion sensor. I didn’t realize this until had a motion sensor until last night when the lights were off and a black cat activated the lights. By the by, the cat was not drawn to the light but actually walked away in the opposite direction of the lights. I am very pleased by how well this Ring works and the quality of the sensor and the video quality.

Impressive device, covers not only flood light but video and smart motion detection.
Impressive. I have to say that I am pretty impressed with this device. Very straightforward to install if you already have a floodlight. Wiring was simple if you have basic DIY skills, and instructions from the app were excellent. Just do remember to turn the power off during installation and double check lines are not live.The unit is very well built and was easily able to log on to the Wi-Fi, etc.Very large field of vision and nice now to have motion detection with notifications, video, and flood light in one device.I was able to purchase this as part of an upgrade program with a Ring doorbell and had to send back an ECHO dot, which was an old-generation device, so it really worked out for me.I will likely buy more of these flood lights as it’s good to have motion detection and video.100% recommend if you’re in the Ring ecosystem.

If you’re looking for a security system that is easy to hook up sees what you want it to see records you can keep it cloud storage if you want or you can choose not to but it’s worked really well I like it I can see it at the door I can thank the delivery people if I’m you know busy and I can’t get to the door it’s just fantastic easy to hook up as well so if you’re looking for something like that you just found it ring has a variety of products that are just wonderful.

I’m really happy with my Ring flood light. You can zoom in and out. It saves your motion detection. The sound is quality. The color is great. I like the flood light that comes on at night. Great quality video.

Disappointed in water resistance, but happy with customer service
Wonderful at first, but I expected it to last longer than the under two-and-a-half years that it did. It was installed by a licensed electrician so it should have been installed correctly, and the casing is supposed to be weather proof, but it stopped working, and did not respond to the recommended reboot. The clear sensor has turned brown. After two weeks of not working, it came back on. But customer service confirmed the brown color is from rust. While I am not happy I will have to hire an electrician again to take this one down and reinstall the new one, I am happy that Ring is sending a replacement. Z in customer service was very kind and courteous. A new one was sent. The new electrician confirmed all was installed properly by the last electrician. We both noticed for the first time that the instructions now say you should not put this on a house’s eaves, which leads us to believe others have complained about this same problem. The electrician says upon closer inspection, there is a notch in the box where water gets trapped if on the eaves. If it is hung on a wall, the notch allows water to drip out. So, make sure you are able to hang this somewhere other than a house’s eaves, or be prepared for it to get water damage at some point (but my damaged one did come back online once it dried out, about two weeks later) while I was waiting for my replacement to arrive.

Floodlight cam lights up large area and monitors it day and night
I got this on sale for under $100 including tax. It arrived in a timely manner. Installation to the round electrical box was quick and easy. I set up the zone for detecting a person using the app on my cell phone. The flood light illuminates a large area making it easy to see motion at night as well as during the day. The video is clear. I have solar panels that heat the swimming pool. I have it oriented so that I can also see any water dripping off the south side of the roof in case one of the panels springs a leak.

Must order adapter to mount under eaves
Works well and setup was easy BUT you can’t mount under the eaves. It is made to mount to a wall. To mount under the eaves you must order and adapter (see photo). Had to wait an extra day for the adapter to arrive. The angle is wide and it has the ability to only alert on people which is very helpful.
