Great Dash Cam for personal use
Rove Review:1. Sorry for the long review, but this is what a review should be. Giving information about a product, so a customer can make an informed decision.2. Came packaged very professionally, and with care in a sturdy box. All components were present. Arrived earlier than expected.3. The camera unit has a little weight to it, indicating it is well made (in the USA), much better than another maker that’s in my SUV. This doesn’t have a battery, but is powered by the vehicle (while in use), and a Supercapacitator, when parked, availing it the ability to keep all saved data. My camera’s battery died 2 yrs ago requiring me to input my date/time every time I start the vehicle.4. The various functions are easy to read and follow, with plenty of photos. They are all contained in a sturdily bound booklet that’s small enough to keep in the glove box for future reference. This shouldn’t be necessary since all the functions are accessible, via the IPhone, with quick descriptions of each function available right from the phone display. No more fiddling with tiny buttons on the camera, and contorting yourself to change settings.5. Powered up right away. I decided on the 3 min segments of videos since they downloaded quicker, and I was able to send the video directly from my phone to another, via Text Messenger, which is important if the video needs to be sent to law enforcement, attorneys, insurance company’s, etc. Increased time segments results in larger bit space.6. I didn’t experience the problems with video connecting and viewing from my phone others have reported in negative reviews in Amazon and especially the Apple Store App. I nearly didn’t purchase this, or any other WIFI connected camera because of these negative reviews. The whole point is to be able to access your videos when they’re needed without popping out the memory card or disconnecting the camera. JUST REMEMBER: you have to be in “Close Proximity” (within several feet) of the camera and the phone. It’s a transfer device, not a WIFI connection. When the Rove app shows up in the connectivity section of your phone, it reads in RED writing “Not Connected to the Internet”. This is normal and the camera will connect to your phone. You may also have to temporarily turn off your car’s Auto Connect function on Apple Play, as it will override the connection from the Rove App.7. I had a lot of difficulty downloading the video app, Videolan, suggested by the manufacturer. I was never able to get it on my PC, hence the 3 min videos for ease of sharing. I was able to bring the video up on my 65” TV, via Airplay, and what a view!!!8. DAYTIME: The video is discernible on the camera’s display, enough to see what has occurred, but when you connect it to a TV or PC with a larger screen, the display is incredibly sharp with very clear videos. The Rove icon (optional), Lat/Long, date/time, Vehicle tag number (optional), and Speed (optional) are clearly seen on the bottom of the video. Reminds me of reviewing my police car dash cam before I retired.9. NIGHTTIME: ….the video is clear and displays basically everything you’re seeing with the front headlight beam projection. The rear video, for having no benefit of headlamps, is impeccable and displays a clear picture, gathering light sources that are available from vehicles, the roadside, etc. When the brake lights are applied, you can see the red reflection on the roadway markings.10. Only qualm I have so far concerns the function of having the icons that display on the screen. When they are set to disappear after a selected amount of time, the display Speed also disappears. I like being able to view the speed on the camera and compare it to my speedometer speed. This is not a deal breaker, but I would hope they will consider changing that option. The icons are white and are not distracting.11. Great function is the Voice Reminder that chimes in every minute telling you the camera is NOT Recording, just in case you inadvertently may have turned it off. It is just annoying enough to not be able to disregard it or not hear it.12. There is an Emergency button on the camera with a Triangle symbol, similar to your car’s Emergency Flasher button, you can push to lock a video immediately, thereby preventing it from being deleted until you go into the file and manually deactivate the Hold/Lock.13. Reviewing recorded data is easy on the phone. They are set in Front and Rear folders, the newest videos first, and, when uploaded to your phone, they are stored in your photos/videos folder just that way in Front and Rear separate folders, identified by the date/time. You have the ability to Delete selected videos, or delete All, or you can LOCK a video(s) so they don’t get accidentally deleted.14. Comes with an included 128gb memory card which can hold a lot of videos, and this can be upgraded to as much as a TB card. I regularly delete the captured videos to keep the memory card clear, even though the videos self delete the oldest videos in a Loop feature, if you reach the card’s max data.15. I turned off the Audio function as many may not appreciate my singing voice on every recording.;)16. Set this up in my wife’s SUV (2023 Chevy Equinox). Suggest the front camera, either suction or permanent, be installed in the center of the windshield, just below the day/night sensor housing unit. The bracket hangs just low enough to allow a view of the display screen, just below the rear view mirror. The mirror blocks a view of the bracket itself, with NO view obstructions to the driver. If you put it on either side of that sensor housing, up near the windshield header, you’ll lose significant view to the upper left or right quarter of the front windshield which could be detrimental and block important information in a collision event.17. The suction cup seems sturdy with a locking mechanism. So stable, when I needed to reposition it, I had to use the included trim tool to break the suction seal.18. Plenty of wire to reach from the display, at the center of the windshield, to the cigarette lighter, with the front wire, and to the rear of the vehicle, via the rear wire. Remember to connect all wires to the camera before inserting the cigarette adaptor to Power Up. A trim tool is included in the box. Very handy.19. This has been installed for about 2 weeks now, and I’ve ordered a second one for my vehicle to replace an older cheaper made camera that’s not IPhone connectable.20. I didn’t use the Park Mode option, so I can’t speak to that.21. I took my time for several months reviewing several cameras, and decided on Rove. They are Made In the USA, and HQ’d out of Mundelein, Ill (near Chicago), not CHINA (Great Big PLUS). Of all the ones I considered, all and all, Rove has the best reviews. It comes with an included MicroCard, another plus. Reasonably priced (added plus). Check out Rove’s site, you’ll probably find a Rebate!!! (Plus Plus). I had a small issue when I first installed with the download to my phone from the camera. I sent an email, and within an hour I had my answer. Did not initially activate Full Access to my photo library. Once I realized, with They are on the ball for customer satisfaction.(big plus)

Peace of Mind Every Driver Deserves
Years ago, I was involved in a serious driving incident that could have ended my life. I was driving the speed limit when a white van suddenly cut across two lanes and slammed on the brakes to get into a turn lane. I went from about 45 mph to a complete stop in seconds. My phone flew out of my hand, my heart was pounding, and I was in shock. I’ve driven in aggressive environments before (ie. big cities like New York, the Middle East, and Rio de Janeiro, where traffic lights are often ignored), but this situation was completely different. It felt deliberate, and had I not slammed on the brakes in time, I could have been killed instantly. That event still turned into a legal and financial nightmare. The other driver lied to the police, and without video proof, I had no way to defend myself. It ended up costing me tens of thousands of dollars, along with months of stress and wasted time. What makes it harder is that I had been planning to buy a dash cam for a while, but I hesitated because I felt intimidated by the technology and setup process. That hesitation was a costly mistake. If I had owned a camera like this, things would have been very different. This model is simple, affordable, and comes with everything you need: the camera, 128GB memory card, cables, suction mount, and app. The setup is quick and easy. Just insert the card, mount it to the windshield, follow the on-screen instructions, and it’s ready to record in minutes. The app connects quickly and makes it easy to view and download videos directly to your phone. The camera itself feels solid and well-built, and the video quality is very good, capturing every detail clearly, day or night.I haven’t tried other dash cam brands, so I can’t compare, but this one has done exactly what I needed it to do. It gives me peace of mind knowing that my family and I are protected every time we’re on the road.My only small issue is that I haven’t installed the rear camera yet because I’m still figuring out how to hide the wires neatly. The front camera, which I mounted just left of the mirror, works well and gives a wide, clear view. One thing I think all companies in this category, including this one, could improve on is showing customers how simple cameras like this one really are to use. A short 30-second to 1-minute video from the company, with their logo and representatives, walking through the setup process from start to finish, would help a lot of people feel more confident about buying and installing one.Overall, the most important thing is knowing that you’ll never be blamed for something you didn’t do when you’ve done everything right. Your best alibi is an affordable and reliable dash cam—and so far, this product has been both. Another big plus is that if your speed (MPH) is displayed and recorded, officers can’t issue a “visual” speeding ticket or pace you unfairly, because you’ll have all the proof you need to sleep like a baby knowing you’re covered. This dash cam is one of the most valuable tools you can have in your car. Please take it from me, whether you buy this dash cam or another one, don’t wait until something happens to realize how important it is to be prepared.

Very Good.
This is my 2nd Rove Dash Cam. My first was the R2-4K PRO, which did not have the rear-facing camera.I am very pleased with both of them. Installing the rear camera for the R2-4K DUAL was easier than I expected. I was able to pull back the edge of the headliner and add the rear camera cable to a bundle of OEM wires that went from the front of the car to the rear. The App works very good. I am able to easily download videos and still shots to my phone very quickly. And the App makes it easy to adjust camera parameters. Unfortunately, the car I installed the R2-4K DUAL in does not have an always-on USB port, and I did not want the hassle of hard wiring, so the camera was powered on all the time. So, I am using a USB port that shuts off when the key is off, and the camera stays on for a bit and shuts off. I have lost the feature where the camera records parking lot bumps, but that feature is not a big deal, and I don’t mind that it doesn’t work.

Im impressed by the quality and simplicity of this setup. I perched the hardwired kit from Rove and I think it is a better way to go. I installed the camera kit in a Sorento 2025. the provide wire for the rear camera in the ward-wire kit is adequate length by fishing the wire underneath the scuff plate without removing trim. Everything you need comes in the kit. Even the fuse holder that works flawlessly and rapidly. I was amazed by the small multimeter/test light being provided in the hard-wired kit the work like a charm. Great quality video with the front and the rear camera. The Rove app is user friendly and you do not need university degree to be able to navigate and setting up all the parameters via your phone. Whit the built in wifi it is easy to access your footage in case of emergency or provide as proof of imbecility of other drivers 😇. The built in gps provides precise positioning wen properly enter the gps tine zone.

Good features, pretty straightforward to use. It has physically buttons to navigate which is so much better than a touchscreen. App is decent, no subscription needed.Easy to access footage when needed through usb connection or the app (or SD card if u prefer)
