Perfectly Suited for Multiple Applications. Energy Savers
These things are heavy duty and easy to use. Bought two to use indoors because they are rated to handle large appliances and they’re elegant in form. Well made, heavy body and cord, clean appearance with solid buttons to control each of two outlets directly or via the Tapo app, Very easy for even a layman to connect to the internet and setup and plenty sensitive to receive full bars even when set behind a metal appliance. I use one to turn on and off a Bunn commercial coffeemaker to save energy and another for a 150w 5-channel amplifier that doesn’t have signal sensing capability. Has worked like a charm, on/off commands via the app whether on a schedule or manually entered on the phone are instantaneous as is status feedback. Only possible improvement would be to make them in the US; otherwise very happy. They are a wise investment to reduce severely inflated electricity costs and manage equipment that isn’t close at hand.

Does the job, seems durable
Integrated easy with other tapo equipment. Quick setup for automation of holiday lights. Compatible with scheduling time based on sunset. Seems to be made well. Probably will pick up another for more zones.

Great Weather Resistant Outdoor Smart Plug with Matter & Google Home compatability!
When buying a new device to install in my home, two “must haves” today are Matter and Google Home compatability. The TP-Link Tapo Matter Outdoor Smart Plug fills these requirements.Easy to setup from Google Home and with the Tapo app you can make additional settings, including timers.

Excellent and affordable Wifi-controllable outlet.
Great product. Construction quality is rugged and seems robust. App is easy to install and got it working within 5 minutes of unboxing. We use it to automatically switch power between two EV chargers during the middle of the night, and it works flawlessly. Highly recommend.

Configuration and operation via Tapo App better approach for me
Product works well when used w/ Tapo app. Took one star off due to horrible setup instructions included in the box – they were unclear regarding requirement, configuration and use of “Matter” app. Wasted way too much time trying to get this app to connect to Tapo device. I was not successful with Matter configuration. Added device and configured via the Tapo app. Operation of the two plugs for large fountain pump and fountain lights was easy from the Tapo App. The App could provide a bit more information on how to set up a timed start and stop time.

Good Matter option
I used this to replace a Meross unit that blew a capacitor after I added a segment to my outdoor string lights. This unit abruptly shut down and gave an over amperage warning in the app — rather than dying like the Meross. I replaced the incandescents in the string lights with lower wattage LEDs and this has been working perfectly with my HomeKit system. I wanted Matter so it would be less flakey about connections, and so far that has proved to be the case.

GREAT way for backyard chicken owners to give supplemental light
I got this along with Light socket extensions to power LED lights for my chickens who need light in the fall/winter to continue laying eggs. It’s working out super well!So I put this in my barn that is 600′ away from my house (that has wifi). The wifi won’t reach down there so I actually set the Tapo up at the house and did all of the programming ( 5pm on, 9pm dim to 75%, 9:15 dim to 50%, 9:45 dim to 25% and 10pm off). This is a good approximation for the chickens to experience sunset and not have the light turn off all of a sudden. So after programming, I took it down to the barn and plugged into power down there. For the next week I noticed everything is working just as I intended. Although I can’t remotely control with the Tapo app from my phone (no wifi at the barn), it retained all of the programming and the time – so it works exactly the way I want it to. On top of that, because I have chickens in separate barn stalls, I hooked up light sockets to each stall and all are connected to a breakout receptacle which is connected to the sole receptacle on the Tapo plug. Each light is 20w LED @ 5000k daylight color temperature (equivalent to 150w incandescent) – so plenty of light per stall. The chickens are happy and I’m getting eggs as though it was in the middle of summer.I’m extremely happy about this setup which didn’t cost that much but gives me many more eggs than I would get otherwise!
